Years ago, my wife and I used to go to a local teppanyaki restaurant. My wife would always order an appetizer of this baked sushi dish they made. It was topped with a sauce that she absolutely loved.
After we went vegan, and learned how to make our own sushi, she decided to recreate the sauce. A few tries later, she got something that, if not perfect, is very, very close. Here’s how to make it:
- 1/3 cup soy-free vegenaise
- 1/2 tsp red curry paste
- 1 1/2 tsp minced ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp tabanero
Simply put all of the ingredients into a bowl and whisk together. Adjust flavor and heat to your taste.
Though we use this sauce primarily on top of our Vegan Sushi (click here for the recipe) it could also be used as a salad dressing, sandwich spread, or even a veggie dip.
