Well, we’ve finally made it. The chakra that EVERYONE talks about. And, though this is a key chakra to develop if you want to experience a spiritual awakening to the highest level, focusing on opening this chakra before the others are ready, is like trying to build the penthouse suite at the top of a skyscraper before the rest of the floors. Yes, the penthouse is the nicest part of the building, but it needs structure and support. That’s why we want to work on all of our other chakras just as much, if not more, than we do the Third Eye.
This is the seat of our wisdom, and the command center for the entire subtle energy body. It is with the Ajna that we are able to balance and manage both our subconscious and conscious minds, as well as help regulate all of the other chakras and minor energy channels throughout our body. Both the ida (the left channel of energy) and the pingala (the right channel of energy) terminate at this point. Only the central energy channel, known as the sushumna, continues up to the crown.
There is a quote that has been attributed to several individuals over the years, which simply states: We do not see things as they are; we see them as we are. No other chakra helps us to understand this, than the Ajna does. Since this chakra presides over both our mind and our sense of self, it is through the Third Eye that we interpret the world from the perspectives of truth, and of ego. The more open this chakra is, the easier it is to see things from the perspective of truth. The less open, the more our ego controls how we see the world.
Which foods help us open and support this chakra? Well, in a word, none. Not because there aren’t any foods that are valuable, but because fasting is the surest way to cleanse, purify, and ensure this chakra is operating at the highest level. Abstaining from food gives the body one less thing to do in terms of the physical world, allowing it to focus on items of a higher nature. If you aren’t able to completely abstain, then try doing a juice fast, or eating only sweet, juicy fruits, like tangerines, peaches, pears, and so on. Stay away from starchy foods, like bananas, or foods with a lot of fiber. And your fast doesn’t have to go on for too long. Even a 3-day fast is enough to help decalcify the pineal gland and open your third eye.
